ARRC Weekend at Road Atlanta

Off to Road Atlanta for 3 days to watch the ARRC event, this courtesy of "Giancarlo" Cooper and a slot on his crew list. My trusty little Nikon is with me and will share photos. This is my 1st ARRC even though I live less than 35 miles from the track.

In short I did 3 races against a bunch of Caterham SLR, R500, CSR etc as well as a Radical SR4 1500 and a Jade.

After sever missed attempts at overall...the Damon Racing Pro Mazda CSR with Elan dp02 body got the overall victory caping a teriffic season. A late bearing failure in the 1990 Spice car ensured a possible overall finish.
The finish line celebration was to say the least festive!!!! Congrats to Damon Racing and
WorldSpeed for the endless effort for this long waited milestone!!!

Buttonwillow Pumpkin Run Oct 31-Nov1

Looks like a somewhat sizable field of sports racers shaping-up for next weekend's Pumpkin Run double at Buttonwillow. - The weather is typically perfect/mild at this event, and configuration 14a CW includes the sweeper (in lieu of the hairpin) which is a great/challenging turn in a high downforce car…especially in the clockwise rotation.

Today I received a small (8x10") coffee-table book which chronicled a friend's 75th birthday celebration. Professionally done, providing a great deal of memories as I think back to that evening at Aroma Restaurant in Alameda, CA. Many of you may be aware that Bill Maisey's son, Sean (FB driver) was involved in a horrific motorcyle accident at the end of August. His extensive injuries will require months of rehab and we certainly wish him well and God speed. morning got off to hard start for D Colburn who had a nasty incident exiting T5. Mike Reupert, Jay Novak, and myself spent 3+ hours at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where Dick had been transported to. Fortunately xrays and MRI were negative and we brought him back to the track. Race cars can be rebuilt for the most part, so we're pleased that Dick, short of some backside pain will be ok. His focus - start the race on Sunday !!

Bob Fox and I pulled out of my driveway in San Jose this morning (Saturday) at 4:54am on our way to RA in Bob's blue Corvette. It is now 9:50pm (lost an hour) and we have stopped for the night in Rawlins Wyoming, a real garden spot the only place open for food was a Chinese restaurant. We had rain for a few minutes and of course I was driving, Bob can smell rain and always manages to not be driving when it hits.
Google says we are 2275 miles from SJ to RA and we have covered about...

I just wanted to post a note before some of you "hit the road" for your long journey to the runoffs. I know you are all packing or preparing as I type this.

I want to wish you ALL a safe and successful journey to, from, and especially AT the event. If you have troubles, let them be small and solveable. And above all, HAVE FUN!!
