DA ignorance

folks,
i'm about to pull the trigger on the AiM MXL Pista. i have zero experience with DA or fiddling with ECUs and such. i just want to do a quick gut check...
the engine, harness and ECU are all bone stock 2005 gsxr1000 at this point.

1. will i be able to utilize some of the stock sensors via this CAN protocol business?
2. can i use the stock sensors and still add analog sensors later? do the two mix well within the mysterious workings of the MXL brain?

As I am rebuilding my car for the moment i would be interessted to see your dashboard designs
For the moment i am not sure jet if i gonna use an original R1 dash or doing something like Stack Multi function display.....
What are your experiences???

Up until now I have just been using Aircraft Spruce for my supplies for vacuum bagging, but I have a "high volume" amount of work to do with twocars to build bodies and countless undertrays etc . Can you guys suggest a good source where you get yours?

Nevermind i wanna build one to have some fun on open trackdays and some smaller races in Germany .

Reducing weight

Has anybody broken down the weight of the components needed to build a 900# sports racer with driver.
I assume most brands of commonly used DSR wheels, tires, shocks, uprights, rotors, calipers, fuel cells, GSXR 1000, drive
train, radiators, oil coolers, etc. all weigh + or- a pound of each other.
The major weight varibles seem to be the driver, chassis, suspension and body.
How much weight do center lock wheels and hubs save over lug nut style?

Fixing Ugly Carbon Fiber

I made a couple of seats from wet lay up epoxy/carbon fiber and they were ugly so I've done a little sanding and filling and they look better but are still very rough looking. They, however, look great when wet. I am weighing my options for clear coating these and I came across PJ1 clear coat "epoxy" in a rattle can. Anyone have any experience with this? Any better suggestions?

Older VD FF as a DSR Platform?

Greetings all - first post.

I currently drive an FV, but have come across a '78 VD FF chassis that is available at a good price and kind of interesting. Wondering if there are any opinions about converting an older FF car like this into a motorcycle engined DSR? Would this make for a competitive regional car or would it be a waste of time and money?

Dauntless Splitter now on a 1st Gen Stohr

I've noticed many of the parts on sports racers are similar to the formula 1000's and found this site that has good pricing on tons of stuff. I didn't know if anyone else has bought parts from Phoenix since they specialize in F1000, but they used to build Maloy sports racers so they know what they're doing and the parts are good quality.

Hello all! I've recently acquired a DSR chassis through my step-dad who picked it up from a client of his. My step-dad does race car fabrication and is helping out a ton with this build. The guy we got it from said that he thinks it is an Astech chassis but we have no proof of this. I've read through the Astech chassis write up on the main page also. The hoop is SCCA stamped with region 33, which I believe is San Francisco. And the chassis code is 1543. I've e-mailed SCCA to see...

A lot of time has passed since my last progress report. I am hoping to be ready for testing (finally) next week. The George Dean engine runs, pumps oil healthily, keeps its cool, so I can't be holding back much longer. Here are the changes made to date

There are some great threads on here about body making.

I was wondering if there is a book or video that I could get that is very detailed and step by step for the novice to get into make their first body mold. Maybe its too amitious and Ill never get into it but I would like to know more about what products to use or not use. Thank you.
