This is a Honda B16 compatible SEALED Quaife that is smaller, lighter and narrower than the Ford Escort type. Still capable of high HP. ( estimate 400+ HP in an under 2000# vehicle)
It is supposedly becoming more popular on motorcycle powered British hillclimb cars than the Ford version sealed diff..
Complete new aftermarket driveshafts with both inner and outer stub axles and both CVs are available for about $85 per side! Japanese car popularity make these parts cheaper than Ford or VW stuff.
This is one of 2 special diffs that are sealed by the factory and meant for chain drive cars. (Gear oil is inserted through 3 plugs).
It should be possible to lighten it up more for FSAE applications with simple external lathe and/or milling work on the case.
I have already machined one side so that it will take the same length CV shaft spline on each side. That removed 0.25" off one side.
Paid $975, Sell $875. New-never run.
