I don't think Gary's is too bad, but Jean-Luc has to send his back to Stohr to get repaired as the frame is bent. The left side definately took a hard
whack.
Maybe Jean-Luc and Gary can explain if they want. Take Care |

oil filter o ring. | #42 | ||

Are you using a standard type filter? If so I had the same problem when I first bought my car. Since then I switched to the K and N filter because you can
safety wire the filter so it cant rotate. With all the vibrations we get I think it loosened enough to allow the filter ring to slip out. The safety wire
should prevent this. The other option I was considering is the canton filter, it has a better filter and uses a solid housing so no o ring. Mat

Jon Luc you are welcome to my car for VIR as I know how long it takes to get repaired and I won't be needing it for a while anyway. Have Critter call me
for directions at 8502325458.

Thanks JR. I have heard of aftermarket filter o-ring failures, but until now not of an OEM failure.

Jean-Luc and Ken were on Hoosiers. I'm not sure if they ran the 25's or 35's though. I ran Goodyear 160's. I think it was cool enough to
have them last as they were wearing great.

We were running Hoosiers. 35s on the left and 25s on the right. Because of the fast right turns, Rodney (from Hoosier) felt 25s all around would overheat.
So we went with 35s on the left side...seemed to be good.

I am new to the class. We ran the Hoosier R35 C2500 at the runoffs in Sports 2000 with great results. Is the 2500 the tire you use or is it the C2000? ( I
am getting ready to order in a bunch).
Thanks, JM |

JR: Thanks for making the long trip all the way to Atlanta. You and your team certainly helped raise the bar at this track and, as always, it was fun to run with you. Our qualifying sessions were amazing not only in that we kept bettering each others' time but in that we were able to do it first lap out everytime!! I don't believe I could've done it without you there setting the example. I was sorry to see you pull off during the race but that will now be one less issue to hold you back the next go 'round. I look forward to seeing you again at The Sprints. Hopefully, things will hold together for all us DSRs as it will no-doubt be a crowd-pleaser-of-a-race with all the great competition expected to be there. Congratulations to Ken and the gang at 10-Tenths for the win and the new track record. You guys are a class act. I'm glad George Dean was there to be able to get you guys going again. Regarding the car, as was mentioned above, it took a hard hit to its left-front. My amazing crew-chief/engineer, Chris "Critter" Young, had the car entirely stripped-down by Monday and had it to my shop Tuesday morning where we had it on a flat table to assess the damage. Not only were the cross bars bent laterally at the LF suspension pick-up points, but the entire frame was torsionally twisted 3/8" end to end, LF to RR. With the upcoming double Nat at VIR and though the factory was able to jump on it right away, time was not really on our side to get the frame shipped across country and back for repair so Critter took matters in his own hands. He immediately contacted PVM and confirmed that they indeed had the West jig in their possession. With the help of the guys at PVM which is greatly appreciated, he proceeded to work his magic and by Wednesday evening, the frame was totally repaired, squared and straight to within 1/32" end to end!!! With the further help of Stohr Cars East and West, it looks like we'll be
all-system's-go for VIR Later…….

Hey Josh:
I was running my KWS engine with the new Taylor differential. The Taylor diff has so far proven to be bullet-proof with the higher torque/hp engines though it does requires a bit of finesse in putting the power down coming out of tight corners. Not a bad thing really, just a bit more sensitive to suspension tuning and throttle modulation to make things balance out. The williams diff, on the other hand, is more forgiving on circuits having tight corners, somewhat able to mask driver over-zealousness and put the power down but, in my experience, has required a bit more off-track confirmation that all is tight and mechanically coupled between sessions. Like most things in racing, it's really a balancing act for the given circuit and the conditions at hand. Both diffs are excellent in their own right. This class has really gotten to be a true science......very cool indeed for both the driver and the engineer Ken ran George Dean engines and, I believe, a Williams diff. Will we be seeing you at the Sprints?
