I have been looking into getting into a sports racer since selling my GT3 car. I have been looking at Radicals, the ADR3 and the Norma M20. It appears the winning cars are Wests or Vikings.
Where do the Radicals, ADR etc fit? Are they uncompetitive xSR cars? Or are they racing in other categories?
I am primarily interested in a rock solid reliable car to run some Enduros. It is highly unlikely I would run in SCCA. Mainly ICSCC enduros (Seattle and Portland) and the T'hill 25 hours.
I like the idea of a the Honda K20 in basically stock form as 240 HP seems like it should be adequate in cars this light. The engine should last through the longer enduros without any problems (other than all the things that typically go wrong in a long race). Is this a reasonable assumption? Does anyone have experience running these engines in endurance races?
Am I correct in assuming a motorcycle engine is not the right choice for an endurance race? It appears these engines have a working life of 30 hours so that would suggest they would be pretty hard pressed to last through the T'hill 25 hours. Or are there endurance versions of these engines available?
I am intrigued with the idea of putting a turbo diesel engine in sports racer. Has anyone (other than Audi and Peugot) done this?
Thanks for the answers.
