Does anyone have experience with or an opinion about the use of strakes within a rear diffuser?I came across the subject in Jeff Braun's book "Inside Racing Technology".His view is that these airflow "fences"augment rear downforce created by the diffuser by preventing contamination of the central airflow with low pressure, high speed air entering from the sides of the car.Banned by some sanctioning bodies these strakes are allowed in F1 and there is no mention of these devices in the GCR so I assume they're legal in DSR/CSR.The only car I've seen that appears to have these is Rodger Cook's Prince ( who has just scored a win and a second in the Winter Nationals in Se. Div.)I realize that a number of very fast cars don't utilize a rear diffuser at all,but for those of us who do...would the addition of strakes within the diffuser significantly increase rear downforce and allow less rear wing angle.I also realize that this may be answered only by sophisticated (wind tunnel) testing and may be too esoteric for our level of racing. However, comments are appreciated as always.
