Last week in Topeka someone relayed to me a different philosphy for final drive gearing than I had previously heard. I am curious what this groups thoughts are on this.
I have always heard one should gear there car to be at redline at the fastest part of the track - all else equal.
What I heard last week was that you should pull the motor past peak power in all gears but the last and you should hit peak power at the end of the fastest straight (about 500 rpm less than what i've been doing).
Which is the correct way to approach this?
thanks in advance.
