At this year's June Sprints we were surprised to see the entire inside part of the left front tire peeled away. At first we thought we were badly rubbing something but once this was eliminated we understood that our GY 160's started blistering on the left front tires. We began a program of scrubbing sets of tires but in the heat of the Savannah sun we blistered them again. GY 175's didn't help either. The Sheltons were also blistering their Goodyears. We finally had to run very hard compound 430 GYs (Savannah Roebling Rd track is hell on tires) to survive more than 10 laps. Putting more or less downforce didn't help.
Anyone else blistering LF tires? Suggestions? Think this is a mfg defect?
