Hey guys,
I'm a former bmw club racer in the Atlanta area. I had a rough time with my car...my $25,000 engine never did work right so I want to move on to something
more reliable and economical. I don't plan to race initially although that may happen when I retire in about 8 years. I'm looking for something for
track days with NASA.
I know nothing about these cars so I'd like to meet someone at Road Atlanta during a track weekend. I'm looking to stay several notches below cutting
edge...probably a 5 year old Stohr with a 1300cc engine or something like that. I know Stohr Cars is local to Atlanta so I might give them a call if nobody
local is on this board.
Incidentally my budget is about $30,000 though I could go a little higher for a nice deal.
Thanks!
Any sports racers owners in Atlanta?

Give the Stohr NA/10 tenths guys a call. I am pretty sure they have some Stohrs in the shop and will be at RA taking car of some as well. Craig and Bill are
great guys too so they can and will answer any questions.
Thanks. Ken

$30K for a used Stohr? A lot of people would like to jump on that.
There will be a few of the PrehiSTOHRic DSRs (Cheetah, AMAC, Predator, OMS) running at CMP on 27-28 Mar. Come on up.

I believe PVM Racing (.com) is right near Atlanta, and they run Wests, which is to say, the 1st-gen Stohr. The Southeast seems to have a large number of
SR's in general.
The Stohr factory is based out of Portland, OR. -Jake |

I'm not locked into a Stohr, especially since my budget is 30K. Probably it's more accurate to say I'm looking for an older sports racer and I
might upgrade to a newer one once I start racing in a few years. However, if I found a screaming deal on a newer car now I could probably up my budget a
little bit.
Thanks for the info so far guys. |

In that case, take a look at the Cheetah that Bill Maisey is offering up for sale. Cheetah is one of the best "2nd tier" DSRs behind the Stohrs and
big buck DSRs.
I tend to class the DSRs this way: National winners - $70K + (Stohrs, etc) Older Stohrs - $45K-55K (and other aero dynamic designs) The Pre-Stohrs - $20K-30K (AMAC, Cheetah, etc) The Older DSRs - $10K-15K (LeGrand, other homebuilts, etc) This may be too basic an analysis and I have not accounted for the new designs that are being developed (Lincoln, Malley-Allen, Messenger, etc) Good luck, there are plenty of choices out there.

I think the market is a little weaker for the older Stohrs. There is a fine example of an 03D with some of the WF1 updates for 36k. A CSR early ended on ebay
this past week with bids up to 26k but it didnt meet the reserve. Sometimes, it just takes an offer. Good luck with your search.

you might take a look at sports 2000. for 30k you can get a very competitive car that doesn't require a lot of engineering expertise (like me
