Where to find this beastie? |

Found these on a piece of alumn that came with one of the diffusers on the car, and have seen them on the bottom of Stohr floors. Couldn't find them
locally or on McMaster. Could be I have the wrong name for them, I thought they would be called "countersink washers"?:

Try searching for "finishing washer" in McMaster.

Charles: thank you, I'll have a look.
Billy: they're definitely not finishing washers, as those still stick up above the surface they're mounted on. Thanks all! -Jake |

Looks like 10/Tenths has them in 1/4" size. Evidently, they're called "Tinnerman Washers"

Aircraft Spruce is another source.
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/nas549washers.php I really like them, but have had a hard time finding 1/4" 100 degree bolts with socket (allen) heads. All I can find is phillips.

The only countersunk cap screws with 100 degree angle will be aircraft and the do not come with anything but phillips. I have had the same problem.
I went to my local bolt supplier and used their standard countersunk socket head 1/4 bolts ...they still worked OK with the tinnerman washers in my application...You could chuck them in a lathe and machine them to 100 degrees.... If you are stuck, mail them to me and I will do it for you for free....welll as long as you don't need a thousand!! hehe Tom towenster@gmail.com |
