Sorce for Suzuki 1000 engines |

I have just successfully completed the purchase of an engine from Sal at Superbikes in Charlotte, NC. I got an '08 GSX-r engine with <500 miles for
$2500.00, including the shipping costs. These guys have a lot of engine kits and seem very professional and easy to deal with. They can be reached at (704)
999-8238. I hope I do not have the need to deal with them soon (I hope this one lasts a long time), but will work with them again.

Good info.
I may be in the market sometime this year myself. Was everything you needed included? - ECU, harness, headers, intake, throttle bodies, injectors, ? A friend of mine got a motor from SHY Motorsports, also in Charlotte (!), and felt that he got a good deal with great service. About the same price, too. Paul Leonard

Dean, thanks for the info!
Can you double check phone number in your original post? Area code 714 is Orange County, CA if I remember correctly... If I'm wrong, sorry.

The engine got here yesterday. It was palleted and wrapped very nicely. It was soooooo clean it looked brand new. I'm very impressed with the entire
transaction. I can highly recomend them to all.

Further follow-up appreciated... | #6

Sounds great and like a seemly reasonable deal. Please continue with follow-up after you've installed and raced it a couple times. I truly hope it all
pans out for you as I may be in the market myself.
Thanks for you input and good luck!

Called the number listed (704 999 8230) and got someone's cell phone whose name was not Sal. Googled "Superbikes, Charlotte, NC" and got
Superbikes International with a totally different number. Is this the company?

OK, so I can't type, sorry. the correct number is (704) 999-8238. I called to confirm and this number is correct. (The number has been corrected in all
above posts also). The company's mailing address is:
SMIS Enterprises 8425 Old Statesville Rd Charlotte, NC 28269. As to the engine all I can say is it is great so far. It has been left mostly stock. I've added a GDRE cam chain tensioner and have added my dry sump pan and pump. It has preformed perfectly for the 3 races run to date.

08 and newer Busas only | #9
|
Thanks for the info. Called and spoke with a very helpful lady. She took my info and got in touch with Sal. After a couple of hours, they called me back to
say that they would only have 2008 and newer Hayabusas. Since my other engine is a 99-07 and I want parts redundancy, this won't work for me. I talked to
the folks at Shy Motorsports in Charlotte and their "turn key" 2007 Busa is $4090. Will start a new thread about Busa engine sources. Just thought
others would like to know. I am impressed with how helpful both Shy and Superbikes International are, as well as with their follow-up. They just didn't
have what I needed.

Per my post on the other thread, I thought I'd post a bit of caution against Shy, I've been having a terrible experience with them. They say all the
right words and offer platitudes, but no call backs, no tracking number, and no engine.
Yes, I'm extremely pissed off at the moment, so perhaps I'm the exception to otherwise good service... -Jake |

I spoke with Jake and we discussed that Superbikes and Shy are two different companies. I have no personal agenda or affiliation with either, just mentioning
the fabulous treatment I received from Sal at Superbikes.
